Macieji “Mitch” Stachura, a 5th year accounting student at UCONN, won the $500 No Limit Hold’em Event of the 2012 DeepStacks Poker Tour at Mohegan Sun. The event was hosted by Kevin “KevMath” Mathers.

During heads-up play Mitch offered a chop with Erik Guzowski.

Mitch entered the Final Table with 300K in chips and just before the dinner break had 1.7 million. Right after break, he lost 600K in 2 big hands. At one point he was down to less than 500K.

On the very last hand of play, 4- handed, Mitch was on the button with pocket 4’s, called all-in’s and hit the 4 on the turn giving him a full house. Knocking out 2 players.

Mitch would like to thank Mike “The Mouth” Matusow for talking him into re-entering the event. Mike knocked him out and encourged Mitch to re-buy into the tournament.

When asked if he would play the Main Event on Saturday, Mitch said “I can’t…I have Finals next week, otherwise I would”.

Maciej “Mitch” Stachura wins the $500 Event ($20,000). Erik Guzowski finshes 2nd ($14,739)
